ASIC/FPGA Engineer
Pixtronix is looking for an experienced ASIC/FPGA System Engineer. This engineer will have a key position in a dynamic multi-disciplinary engineering team developing cutting edge displays. Primary responsibilities will include all phases of FPGA system development, including design, implementation, verification, and debug of prototype FPGA systems, and verification and debug of prototype and production ASIC systems. Additional responsibilities may include managing ECAD Software and systems, designing and testing circuit boards, analog and power circuit debugging, and some C, Visual Basic, or LabView coding. Occasional international travel may be required.
Background and Experience:
- 4+ years of experience with large-scale FPGA design and implementation, including HDL design (VHDL or Verilog), synthesis, place and route, and in-lab testing.
- Proficient in simulation for both functional and timing verification.
- Ability to write Perl and TCL scripts.
- Experience with Source Code Control tools and methodologies (e.g., CVS, Subversion, Clearcase, Perforce, etc.)
- Experience with ECAD tool management a plus.
- Experience or familiarity with PCB layout software a plus.
- Experience with LabView a plus.
Education:
- BS in Electrical or Computer Engineering or equivalent
Manufacturing Engineer
Pixtronix is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer. This individual will be responsible for and must have experience in manufacturing practices as related to flat panel displays. This candidate will be responsible for ensuring that world-class manufacturing protocols, procedures and disciplines are implemented in all stages of our ramp from development and into high volume production. Responsibilities will include working with internal and external customers and suppliers to design and implement well-documented systems of manufacturing control in all stages of process, assembly, test and packaging. This candidate will be responsible for evaluating and auditing supplier manufacturing systems and for designing and implementing documentation and reports to track compliance to all specifications. This candidate will also be involved with production planning; helping ensure the accuracy of the manufacturing inputs in the associated factory cost models.
Experience:
- 5-7 years experience in flat-panel process or manufacturing engineering
- Experience and/or familiarity with all equipment used in flat panel manufacturing environments; clean rooms, test and assembly areas
- Experience with manufacturing cost, capacity, yield and WIP models
- Experience with SEMI E10 standards applied in models and real-time manufacturing
- Knowledge of all processes used in flat panel manufacturing including handling, automation, etch, litho and cleans
- Experience with computerized data acquisition systems like LabView, TestStand or Matlab and with database management is a definite plus
Education Requirements:
- A Bachelors or Masters degree in Mechanical Engineering or related is required
Process Integration Engineer
Pixtronix is seeking a Process Integration Engineer. This individual will be responsible for and must have experience in, or a good working knowledge of, all process steps involved in manufacturing flat panel displays from backplane fab through final module assembly and test. This candidate will work closely with our manufacturing partners to ensure effective development and transfer of all manufacturing processes from design through process qualification and into high volume production. As the liaison between Pixtronix and our manufacturing partners, responsibilities will also include ensuring the creation and on-time completion of yield, cycle-time and quality improvement plans, and transfer of new products and processes from development to production, aligned with Pixtronix improvement plans.
Experience:
- 5-7 years experience in flat-panel process engineering and manufacturing
- Experience and/or familiarity with all equipment used in flat panel manufacturing environments; clean rooms, test and assembly areas
- Experienced in flat panel process and equipment development and transfer to production
- Fluency in Mandarin would be a definite plus
Education Requirements:
- Advanced degree in Physics, Material Science or closely related discipline is required
Senior MEMS Design Engineer
Pixtronix is seeking a Senior MEMS Design Engineer. This individual would be responsible for leading the design, analysis and experimental evaluation of proprietary micro-fabricated display components. The individual will work with analytical and test engineers to assure the efficient operation and design of the critical MEMS element enabling a new ultra-low power display and will design the evaluation techniques and test processes for the critical elements, evaluate the tolerance to manufacturing variances of the elements and help the product test engineers with the design and interpretation of the full product evaluations.
Experience:
- 1 year of experience with MEMS design and development
- Strong background with MEMS structures with a focus on coupled, mixed effect simulations (mechanical, electrical and fluidic)
- Proficient in the use of computer simulation tools (Matlab required) and have a demonstrated ability to create electromechanical models of MEMS devices from first principles
- Must be skilled in the use of finite element analysis tools (COSMOSWorks and Coventorware)

Optical Design Engineer
Pixtronix is seeking an Optical Test Engineer. This individual will be responsible for and must have experience in the development of illumination components and optical films as related to flat panel displays. This individual will also be responsible for design and simulation of LED based backlight illumination systems, optical module architectures and thin film designs for the Pixtronix low power displays. Responsibilities will also include coordinating with internal engineering teams and external vendors to fabricate prototypes and empirically verify designs. While reporting to the Director of Optics this individual will work with a multidisciplinary team and must be able to manage multiple tasks while keeping with the development schedule.
Experience:
- 5-7 years experience in optical or electro-optical product development
- Proficient in LED and backlight illumination design for flat panel displays or related systems, using simulation software like ASAP or Light tools
- Proficient in optical thin film design and characterization
- Experience working with optical component vendors, creating detailed product specifications and managing vendors for successful delivery of products is required. Experience with Asian suppliers and manufacturing partners is a strong plus
- Experience with optical component metrology. Photometry and computerized data acquisition like LabView is a strong plus
- Experience with opto-mechanical design is a plus
- Ability to communicate within a multi-disciplinary team, understand complex product requirements and convert them into successful test systems and ability to execute multiple programs simultaneously
Education Requirements:
- A Bachelors or Masters degree in Optics, Electrical or Electro-Optics is required.
Test and Characterization Engineer
Pixtronix is seeking a Test and Characterization Engineer. This individual will report to the Director of Test and Characterization and will support company efforts in electronics, optics, packaging and microfabricaiton. This role will bridge the efforts of a multidisciplinary team and support a centralized characterization and data basing program. Candidates for this position must have experience developing and operating test systems for complex electro-mechanical or electro-optical components and will support critical development milestones and schedules.
Responsibilities:
- Assisting in the development of electrical and electro-optical test systems, automation programming and data basing code for displays and metrology tools
- Running daily display characterization efforts
- Automation of characterization and measurement procedures
- Assisting in the development of a database management system and Manufacture Execution System (MES).
- Analysis of test and characterization data
- Calibration and maintenance of test systems
- Setting up an running customer demonstrations
Background and Experience:
- A minimum of 4 years experience developing automated test and characterization systems
- Hands on experience developing databases with the goal of storing data, retrieving data, and ease of data dissemination to other users in the company
- Experience with testing and analytical software
- LabView programming skills are required with vision analysis experience a plus.
- Experience with flat panel display or projection display characterization, MEMS or complex electro mechanical systems, and high volume consumer electronics are a strong plus
- Well developed written and verbal communication skills, good time management skills and the ability to communicate and contribute to a multidisciplinary team are also required

Optical Test Technician
Pixtronix is looking for an experienced Optical test technician with 5-10 years experience in the testing of flat panel displays, electro-optical devices, fiber optic, semiconductor or instrumentation environments. The candidate will assist our senior engineering staff in testing and evaluating displays and optical components, quality control of incoming and outgoing materials and components, assist in test system development for flat panel displays including assembly, software development and debugging, calibrate and maintain the test systems and collect data, present data in proper format, report and documentation and generation.
Experience:
- Testing and measurements of display modules and various display components
- Experience measuring luminance, viewing angle, color uniformity, and contrast for direct view displays is a strong plus
- Proficient with display metrology tools, microscopes, digital cameras and imaging equipment, reflectometers, function generators, oscilloscopes, Automated data acquisition (labview, IEEE-488, Ethernet) and general optics and lab equipment
- Proficient with Microsoft office tools
- Experience in the development of test system for display applications is a plus
Education Requirements:
A Bachelors Degree in optics, electro-optics or electronics is a plus
